Jo Jingles was started in 1991 and the company became a
franchise in 1995. To date, there are almost 90 individual franchisees
running
classes throughout the UK. This in turn means that there are more than
20,000 children attending classes on a weekly basis.
Classes are run
for children between the ages of six months to 5 years, although many
of our franchisees also run classes for children aged up to 7 years.
Jo Jingles' classes are now endorsed by speech therapists, health
visitors, educational consultants and government-funded early year's
organisations.
I bought my Jo Jingles Franchise over 8 years ago and recently,
along with Lorna, we have just expanded and bought the Reading area.
Before this I had
spent 14 years as a paediatric nurse and so child development is an
area I know well. The classes are planned specifically with the child's
developmental age in mind. We don't expect the impossible from children
who attend our classes. Programmes are carefully written considering
educational points as well as lots of fun activities. Children in the
3-4 year age group are still having fun but are being introduced to
music as an overall subject, learning about the 4 basic notes, rhythm,
pitch, classical music and group work they often go on to learn a
musical instrument at an earlier age because of this.
When I started I had 11 classes but after 6 months we had expanded to
24. Now, 8 years later we have 60 classes, catering for babies
from 6
months to children who are about to go off to primary school.
